Note: We made the roman shade on the right for the Country Living Test Kitchen, using their own fabric. It features an inside mount with cotton lining.

Roman Shade Fabric Options

We have a wide range of color options in our linen collection as well as select patterns.

Or, if you'd prefer to use your own, we happily use your fabric. Just ship it directly to us from any online source you buy your fabric from.

Roman Shade Functionality

Choose from three functionalities: Continuous Loop, Cordless and Motorization.

Each shade's functionality is built by hand in our shop. Your choice is based on your preferred method of raising and lowering, as well as your budget.

1. Continuous Loop:

The Continous Loop functionality operates on a beaded chain. When pulled down on the front or back of the loop, it raises, lowers and auto locks the shade into place. The bottom of the beaded chain can be anchored at the base of the window.

As an outside mount, this functionality projects: 1.25"

As an inside mount, this sits flush inside a window with a depth of at least 1.25".

2. Cordless:

This is the cleanest look, with no cord visible anywhere.

The shade is raised and lowered by pulling down on a loop behind the bottom of the shade.

Ideal for inside-mounted shades or a modified outside shade (due to projection).

This shade comes on the largest-sized board so it's important to ensure you have at least 2.5" of depth inside your window to mount your shade.

If you're outside mounting onto your wall, this shade will have a 2.5" light gap on the side of the shade which can be avoided by dropping the shade off the backside of the board and adding a small valance to hide the mechanism. To add this, please request it in your order details.

As an outside mount, this functionality projects 2.5", unless modified with a valance addition.

As an inside mount, this sits flush inside a window with a depth of atleast 2.5".

3. MOTORIZATION:

This functionality allows your shade to be operated using a remote.

The shade can be either battery operated (with charging capability) or hard wired, based on your preference.

Ideal for inside mounted shades or a modified outside shade (due to projection).

This shade comes on the largest-sized board so it's important to ensure you have at least 2.5" of depth inside your window to mount your shade.

*Cord Lock: Please note that we have discontinued our classic Cord Lock functionality due to new safety laws.

Measuring your window

The final and most important step is accurately measuring your window.

Follow the diagram below, and measure depending how you plan to mount your shade: Inside (nestled within the window frame) or Outside (covering your window frame/trim).
